Description

The JVP scale is a simple portable medical instrument designed and developed by Sonvisage Nig. Ltd. for the accurate and convenient measurement of the jugular venous pressure in cases where it is usually raised; such as:

  • Heart failure.
  • Constrictive pericarditis (JVP increases on inspiration - called Kussmaul's sign).
  • Cardiac tamponade.
  • Fluid overload – eg. renal disease.
The instrument has value addition potential to the process of clinical evaluation for the jugular venous pressure level by saving time and ensuring objectivity across users.

  1. Ensure the patient is appropriately placed at 45o (Cardiac position)
  2. Insert the vertical scale into the housing of the horizontal gauge.
  3. Place the padded base of the vertical scale on the sternal process
  4. Use the light source to locate the highest point of the jugular pulse
  5. Raise the horizontal gauge to coincide with the highest point of the jugular pulse while Take the reading from the vertical scale
